Israel withdrew from the disputed village of Ghajar

Israel announced its decision to withdrawal from the disputed border village of Ghajar located on the Golan Heights, but Hezbollah declared on Saturday that the group’s weapons are still necessary to resistance against Israel. On Wednesday the Israeli Security Cabinet approved the unilateral withdrawal from the northern part of Ghajar, an Alawite village of 2,210 people that sits on a strategic corner where the boundaries between Syria, Lebanon and Israel are in dispute.

Israel hit by 11 rockets in less than 24 hours

Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip fired 11 rockets in less than 24 hours, including a long-range Grad-Katyusha rocket that hit a town west of Beersheba. It is the first such attack since Operation Cast Lead. No injuries or damage have been reported. Eleven rockets in less than 24 hours. This is the result of the latest military activity of Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip since this early Friday morning. Authorities declared that all the rockets landed in an open area in the Eshkol Regional Council without injuring people and damaging buildings.

Italy arrests top mafia fugitive

Italian police forces arrested on Wednesday Antonio Iovine, a mafia boss who had been on the run for 16 years. He was one of Italian police’s most wanted people. Antonio Iovine, one of the most important figures of the southern Italian Mafia known as Camorra, was arrested earlier this afternoon by the Italian police and transferred to a safe and secret location.

Noam Shalit: ‘Israeli government has no credibility’

Noam and Aviva are the parents of Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier captured by Hamas in 2006. Since months they are camped in front of Israeli Prime Minister’s residence in Jerusalem. Here a short interview to Noam Shalit. On June 25, 2006 the 20-years-old Israeli soldier corporal Gilad Shalit was captured by Hamas in a cross-border raid near Kerem Shalom and held as a prisoner in the Gaza Strip. Since then, the Israeli government and the International Community tried to reach a deal with Hamas for Gilad’s release but every attempts failed.

Israel, Gilad Shalit’s 1600th day of Captivity

On November 11, 2010 Israelis have marked 1,600 days since the day Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit was captured by Hamas in a cross-border raid near Kerem Shalom and held as a prisoner in the Gaza Strip. Gilad Shalit is an Israeli soldier who was captured on 25 June 2006 by Hamas in a cross-border raid and has been held as a prisoner in the Gaza Strip. He was the first Israeli soldier captured by Palestinian militants since 1994. His parents are camping outside of Israeli Prime Minister’s residence in Jerusalem to pressure the government into striking a deal for Shalit’s release.

Ariel Sharon moved home to his Negev ranch

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has been moved to the family ranch in the Negev on Friday morning. It is the first time since he fell comatose from a stroke five years ago. Security officials kept him out of view during the transfer. On Friday morning the former Prime Minister was taken in an ambulance from the Sheba Medical Centre in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, to the family’s ranch. The decision to move him arrived after the request of the family, the consent of the hospital and the € 300.000 annual funding approved this week by the Financial Committee of the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament, for Sharon’s treatment.
